Wooden tools?
Axel began by studying with the Compagnons du Tour de France for 2 years, as well as with A.B.E.M.A. (architectural woodworking) and Daniel Moevus (cabinetmaking specialized in luxury goods).
He then moved to France to join the École d'Ébénisterie d'Art de Montréal in Quebec, where he spent 3 years perfecting his skills. At the same time, he co-founded the Collectif Kopo, a group of young cabinetmakers working in the Montreal cabinetmaking market.
Finally, his experience was enriched at Ateliers d'Antoine, a social reinsertion organization specializing in the manufacture of wooden outdoor furniture, where he occupied the role of technical training manager for 2 years and helped to train over 40 people.
Ethics & Ecology
Axel & Bois values the ancestral craft of fine woodworking, while taking care to be in harmony with contemporary values: that's why ecology is at the heart of our concerns.
The main criterion for the products we design and manufacture is durability. We use simple, natural materials, such as local woods and an organic oil finish.
We prioritize manual labor when it is realistic to minimize our carbon footprint. We're always on the lookout for old-fashioned tools to reconnect with the techniques of our ancestors.
Finally, Axel & Bois is an artisanal company on a human scale. When you buy one of our products, you encourage local craftspeople, and we thank you for that. Please feel free to write to us.
